Kindergarten Wonder
by Wendy Silva

I wonder what you're doing right now,
And if everyone is treating you kind.
I hope there is a special person,
A nice friend that you can find.

I wonder if your teacher knows
Just how special you are to me.
And if the brightness of your heart
Is something she can see.

I wonder if you're thinking about me,
And if you need a hug.
I already miss the sound of your voice
And how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand
How hard it is for me to let you grow.
On this day know that my heart breaks
For this is the first step in letting my baby go.

This poem so beautifully says what I have felt for the past few days.

Mission First Day: Accomplished

Hunter had a wonderful first day of school.  He was excited and ready to go.  He packed his own lunch, helped choose his outfit, put his key chains on his bag, and even asked his Dad to take a picture by his locker as he waited for his teacher, Mrs. Raft!  He almost panicked when he thought he didn't do his homework but no worries...he didn't have any!  When I picked him up he was happy and said he had a great first day of school.  He told me he was the best kindergartner of all!  Hunter reported that he did not get in trouble though one boy did and his parents were called {yikes} Hunter was not impressed with that.  Hunter had music, he enjoyed it, and they went on a hunt for a cat throughout the school which he really loved.  All and all, he decided his day was a "thumbs up" and he is excited for tomorrow!

I'm proud that he has come so far, is excited for school, and has loved the idea of learning and being in a class with other friends.  Time goes fast and I'm just so proud of him!

Love you H!

had to get Kaelyn in a couple :)  She started in the toddler room this year and is 19 months old.  She has transitioned well and I was nervous considering how attached she was this summer.  She is a little hesitant at drop-off but recovers quick and the teachers said she is doing great and she's even a rule follower...lets hope she stays that way ;)  Love you too K!

All grown up

As I sit here pretending to watch bachelor pad...all I can think about is my baby growing up too fast in front of my eyes.  Hunter starts kindergarten tomorrow and I'm consumed with bittersweet emotions. I'm so grateful at the time he and I have had, the person he has become, the love that I've experienced with him, the feeling that he is ready for kindergarten and I'm so happy about that.   My mother-in-law says you don't forget sending him off to kindergarten because it's like one book closing and a new book opening.  The closing of baby years, toddler tantrums, preschool excitement and the opening of "real school", homework, plays, sports, and oh so much learning and fun.  All and all I am excited for Hunter but I'm allowing myself to swim in a little self-pity tonight as I long for that sweet little baby boy I used to put to sleep on my chest each night.  Love you Hunter!
