Kaelynisms

Kaelyn Noelle...you are such a cutie right now.  You are full of personality and are just changing into a little kid instead of a toddler right in front of our eyes.   Yesterday you told us that something smelled “grody” and we were cracking up b/c we never use that word and you used it in perfect context.  Just one example of the leaps and bounds you are making every day!  You also have started jockeying for things…for example, after this movie can I watch Rapunzel next?  Or, when I wake up tomorrow can I go play with Lexie?  I’m very impressed with your day to day knowledge and vocab.  It’s so fun watching this.  You are having a blast with Hunter….one of the first things you say every morning when you wake up is, where is Hunter or can I go snuggle Hunter.  It’s so sweet to see how much you love and adore him.  Sometimes you are highly competitive with him but for the most part you just can’t get enough of him J

You still love to read books, play with babies, and be outside a lot too.  The way you say your ‘L’ sound is so cute…for example polar bear or stroller you almost stick out your tongue to make the sound….so cute J  You have also picked up on Hunter’s dance skills….your booty dance is hilarious and you like to do it a lot…especially b/c you know it makes us laugh.  Yesterday you offered to take Mommy’s shoes and socks off and put them away for me….you are much more interested in being helpful and are realizing the positive reward of a thank you or a smile and hug.  Some of the terrible two stuff you seem to be growing out of as you are beginning to understand consequences, time outs, etc.   I don’t have to give you timeouts very often….but when you do have one it is beginning to sink in that you aren’t enjoying that and saying sorry is important.  It’s a work in progress.

You are also very girlie and particular…I have totally brainwashed you to love pink and now I’m trying to let you know it’s okay to like lots of other colors….you only want a pink cup and straw, you want to wear certain shoes on certain days, you always want dresses on…etc.  You love to have your hair done so it is just like Mommy’s which I find to be totally awesome!   I love your style and your girlieness…yet it’s a perfect blend b/c you are a tomboy too for sure!  You are also very athletic and able-bodied…you love running (and shrug your shoulders and pump your arms majorly when you do)….you love to kick, throw, and dance!  Love you K!!!

Happy 6th Hunter

Happy 6th Birthday Hunter

Hunter has become such a little man this year.  He loves school, playing, and having fun all the time. He is beyond patient and kind to his sister and always tries to help her as often as he can.  He is so loving and sweet and sometimes just looks at you, smiles, and tells you he loves you.   Hunter is a true rule follower and we've found ourselves telling him a lot this year that, "It is okay if you get in trouble or make a mistake sometimes" and "They aren't a bad kid if their clip gets moved to yellow".  It has been so fun watching him grow so much during this year in Kindergarten. We are so blessed to have you Hunter and we love you so much!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaelyn

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaelyn!!!

Look how much you've changed in just 2 years...our little baby...

to our beautiful little princess...

Feels like yesterday when I went into labor with you, dropped Hunter off at Mike and Emily’s and headed into the hospital.  Little did I know that as soon as I arrived you were quickly on your way.  This suites you now as you always know what you want and want it quick J  I arrived at U of M at 7 pm and you were born on the dot at 9 pm.  A beautiful, baby girl….pouting and shocked at the new world she entered into.  You were 8 lbs, 5 oz. and 22 inches long…a big baby!!! Over the past 2 years you have blessed my life everyday.  You have shown your loving, caring nature and your fun, entertaining, and silly personality and we love all of you!
Here is a little about you as you turn 2 years old today:

LOVES
-Babies and playing dollies ALL THE TIME
-Wearing backpacks (to be like Hunter I think)
-Shoes and accessories – you choose your shoes each morning and will not wear it unless you choose it.  Style already J
-Getting your hair done.  You love pony’s and hair clips and always want your hair styled like Mommy or Samantha
-Watching Beethoven (your favorite), Tinkerbell, The Lorax, Lion (animal show).
-Dancing…you’ve just started to ask to dance…requesting a tutu and then showing us your ballet arms and dancing around.  Before a few weeks ago you would dance a lot only when we would turn on the music but you have ALWAYS loved it.
-Eating all the time.  You are the ultimate snacker….you will eat all day long and are really not very picky.  You like to eat with Dad and dip your food…ketchup, mustard, hummas, chip dip…if you can dip it, you will eat it J
-Mommy.  You are quite attached (which I love)…your phrase is always, “Mommy do it” b/c you want me to do everything with and for you if I’m around.  You’d rather not have anyone help you.  Mommy gets lots of snuggles and hugs everyday because we are so close.  You sleep with Mommy everynight and although some Mom’s would argue ‘this is bad’…I actually love it and love snuggling and seeing you every morning…its so special to me.
-To sing.  Your favorites are twinkle, twinkle, ABC’s, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Patty-Cake
-To play this little piggy
-You love making us laugh…tickling us, surprising us, laughing like the Uncle from Christmas Vacation, being silly
-Playing hide and seek…a lot!

-To make different faces (see below)...smile, model (big lips), silly, sweet :)
-Pretend play…you like to dress up, use your phone to call Grandma and Grandpa, take care of your babies, etc.

Fun things about you
-You are very well spoken.  You are able to string together long sentences and communicate with us very well.  There are some things you say often such as, “I don’t like it”, “Come here boys”, “Mommy do it”, “Kaelyn sad” (when you want a snuggle at bed time), “Buy it Mommy” (at the store when you want something, “I love you too”, “I miss you Mommy”, “3 more minutes”,  "Mine (t)", “Come find us” (for hide and seek), "I need you Mommy or Daddy".
-You have quite the temper and will spontaneously yell and scream if you don’t get your way.  You always know what you want which is great but you are quite demanding.
-You love your brother SOOO much! You are always climbing on him, trying to play with him, copy him, etc.  It’s awesome.
-You love watching animals on tv and in person but you do not play with stuffed animals unless it is your Beethoven puppy ‘Dolly’.  You much prefer playing with your babies at home
-At your 2 year well-baby you were 36 inches tall (a whopping 95% for height) and 30 lbs (85% for weight).  You are actually down a little percentage wise for height but still quite tall.  Hope you are taller than Mommy!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaelyn!  We love you!!!

Kindergarten Wonder
by Wendy Silva

I wonder what you're doing right now,
And if everyone is treating you kind.
I hope there is a special person,
A nice friend that you can find.

I wonder if your teacher knows
Just how special you are to me.
And if the brightness of your heart
Is something she can see.

I wonder if you're thinking about me,
And if you need a hug.
I already miss the sound of your voice
And how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand
How hard it is for me to let you grow.
On this day know that my heart breaks
For this is the first step in letting my baby go.

This poem so beautifully says what I have felt for the past few days.
